Toli Masjid

Apart from Mecca Masjid and Jama Masjid, the other famous and attractive mosque of Hyderabad built in Indo Islamic and Qutubshahi style of architecture is Toli Masjid and it is located at Caravan, near Purana Pul. The other name given to Toli Masjid is Damdi Masjid.

It was believed that in the reign of Sultan Abdullah, the Toli Masjid was built in the year 1671. Later on the holy shrine was divided into two halls comprising of five arched openings at the outer side and the inner section has three arched openings.

Toli Masjid consists of parapets with unique designs of miniature arches with perforated screens at top portion of the shrine. The prayer hall’s inscription gives clear indication that royal architect, Musa Khan built the mosque. While genius architect, Musa Khan was building Mecca Masjid, he was given a damdi for every rupee spent on Mecca Masjid and the architect used the amount collected for the construction of Toli Masjid.
