| Regarding the History of Ujjaini Mahankali Temple, Shri Suriti Appaiah who was the resident of Secunderabad was in military in the year 1813.A.D and he along with few others was sent to Ujjain as mason. As Shri Suriti Appaiah was devotee of Goddess Mahankali visited Mahankali goddess temple in Ujjain on regular basis and offered prayers with utmost devotion during his entire stay. For successful completion of their mission and also for guiding their way for return journey, Shri Suriti Appaiah expressed his gratitude through his prayers to the Goddess by prostrated at her feet and expressed a wish of having a deity of powerful Goddess Mahankali to be installed at Secunderabad. Shri Suriti Appaiah’s wish was fulfilled in the year 1815 A.D, when he installed a wooden deity of the Goddess where the present shrine exists and offered prayers. Later on idol named “Manikyalamma” was found in the same place and in the year 1864 A.D, Shri Appaiah replaced the wooden deity with two idols of “Mahankali” and “Manikyalamma” and constructed a small temple named “Ujjain Mahankali” temple. Ujjaini Mahankali Temple receives large turn over of devotees from different states and Telagana region at the time of main events or rituals like Kolupu Potharaju Bali, Rangam, Bonalu Ghatotsavam and Saganamputa.
