Nehru Zoological Park


“Nehru Zoological Park” is the largest zoo park located in Hyderabad and spread over an area of 380 acres as a recreation spot in the capital city of Andhra Pradesh. The park was established in the year1959 and was declared opened to public in 1963, the name of this park was named after first prime minister of the country, Jawaharlal Nehru. The best part of the zoo park is that one can find more than 1500 species at one stop.
Nehru Zoological Park is ideal place to find animal wealth under one roof that include carnivores animals like estuarine crocodiles in open pools, Asiatic Lion, Tiger, Orangutan, Panther, monitor lizards and chameleons, hooded Indian Cobra, reptiles like Giant/Star tortoises, water turtles, Russell's viper, Giant rock-python, and many more. The zoo also has Elephants, Rhinoceros, Hippopotamus, Zebras, American Bison, Antelopes, Black Buck, Chousingha, Chinkara, Deer, and Brow Antler Deer etc. are among the herbivorous animals and one can find different kinds of fishes, birds.

The other attractions of the largest zoological park of India are pre-historic dinosaur park, a natural history museum, mini-train and animal rides make the place ideal for a picnic. Hyderabad zoo authorities run different safari trips for few animals like lion safari, tiger safari, black beers safari etc on day-to-day basis. One who visits this park can really enjoy the realistic nature’s treasures at one place.

It remains open from 9 a.m. until 5 p.m and remains closed on Mondays.
