Hazarat Hussian Shah Wali who belongs to Ibrahim Quli Qutub Shah Dynasty was renowned great emperor, thus lake was named after him as “Hussian Sagar”. The lake spreads over an area of 24kilometers at the tributary of river Musi to meet irrigation needs of the city. The lake is located at popularly known place called “Tank Bund”, the area is decked on one side with 33 statues of the great personalities of Andhra Pradesh and it holds water perennially.

“Hussian Sagar” becomes the best place in Hyderabad to be visited throughout the year were in one can find different parks at nick and corner of the lake that include “Lumbini park”, “Indira Park”, “Sanjeevaiah Park “,which suits for people of all the ages and also the temple made of marbles named “Birla Mandir” nearby. The centre of attraction for city as well as for the lake is its wonderful monolithic Buddha statue weighing around 450 tons and of 16 meter tall placed in the midst of the lake, one can reach to view the beautiful statue with the help of boats, which is available at Lumbini Park.

“Hussian Sagar” acts as a gateway connecting the twin cities of Hyderabad and Secunderabad, which environs several parks and scenic spots. As the lake is located at Tank Bund, one can see the awe-struck of stretch road with lights surrounding the lake in the form of necklace at nights and the place is popularly known, as necklace road. The other attractions of the lake are water sports competition organized by the state tourism and the famous Katta Maisamma temple that is on the Tank Bund. Tour to Hyderabad remains incomplete without ones visit to “Hussian Sagar”.
