The Eye Institute is a non-profit organization governed by: the Hyderabad Eye Institute (HEI) and the Hyderabad Eye Research Foundation (HERF). The mission of the Eye Institute is to provide affordable and competent eye care to all sections of society. Therefore, we focus on geographically and economically disadvantaged groups, including both the rural and the urban backward classes and extend our services to them through satellite clinics and rural affiliates. Since our establishment we have provided outpatient services to 6 million people and surgical care to over 585,000 patients - almost 52 percent of them free of charge.
Sarojini Devi Eye Hospital : Sarojini Devi Eye Hospital is a medical institution in Hyderabad, Andhra Pradesh, India. It is named after Sarojini Naidu, a politician. It is affiliated to Osmania Medical College and Gandhi Medical College and serves as a teaching hospital. Originally, it included an ENT section, but it was separated and moved to separate premises in Hyderabad.Very helpful to poor people. Located very near to Mehdipatnam.
The hospital made news all over India and in the US when doctors operated and removed the healthy eye from a 2-year old girl, Nasreen Banu, instead of the cancerous one, blinding her for life. The incident created a furor in India resulting in the Government of India sending Nasreen Banu to the United States for treatment at its expense, where the other cancerous eye was operated and removed.
Maxivision Eye Hospital : From 10th February 1996, at Maxivision Eye Hospital, by using the proven technique of LASIK surgery, I was able to correct minus power, plus power and those with both minus and plus power. This treatment has helped millions of people worldwide to achieve vision without glasses or contact lenses.
In 1983 I started as a Cataract and Refractive surgeon in England and introduced the first LASIK procedure in 1995 in England, and 1996 in India, and have conducted 21,000+ Lasik procedures single handedly. The latest in Lasik technology is the Bausch & Lomb's 'Zyoptix' system that we have for problem free better vision.
For those not suitable for Lasik or Zyoptix, in 2001 I also introduced the first Phakik IOL in India and Bioptic procedure with refractive lens exchange or PIOL. Today a large proportion of Doctors as patients are very happy having had Lasik and Zyoptix at Maxivision.
